Houthis Announce Death of 11 Senior Officers Amid Escalating Clashes
The Houthi group, designated internationally as a terrorist organization, announced on Monday, January 13, 2025, the death of 11 of its fighters, all reportedly holding officer ranks.
According to the Houthi-controlled Yemen News Agency, "SABA," the funeral for the 11 officers was held in the capital, Sana'a, under their control since September 2014. The deceased included a brigadier general and three colonels. However, no details were provided about the time or location of their deaths.
This marks the highest daily death toll acknowledged by the Houthis since the start of 2025. The announcement follows intensified clashes in recent days on the battlefronts of Al-Jawf, Marib, and Taiz provinces.
Yemen has been experiencing a fragile ceasefire since April 2022, following a war that erupted when the Houthis seized the capital and state institutions by force.
