Yemeni Embassy in Cairo Condemns Media Smear Campaigns, Vows Legal Action
The Yemeni Embassy in Cairo issued a strongly worded statement on Monday, denouncing what it described as coordinated media smear campaigns targeting embassy staff and Yemeni state figures, some of which have extended to defame Egyptian institutions. The embassy emphasized that such actions threaten the strong historic ties between Yemen and Egypt and undermine the interests of the Yemeni community residing or visiting the country.
In its statement, the embassy confirmed it is closely monitoring the campaigns and will take legal measures against those responsible, both in Yemen and Egypt, through relevant official and judicial authorities.
The embassy urged media outlets and social media users to verify information and avoid being drawn into “suspicious campaigns” that distort facts and damage bilateral relations. It warned that these actions may negatively impact the lives of thousands of Yemenis in Egypt who rely on a stable environment for education, healthcare, and business.
The embassy reaffirmed its commitment to defending its reputation and protecting the interests of Yemeni nationals, while working to preserve the integrity of Yemen-Egypt relations.
