Al-Alimi at Baghdad Summit: Houthis Are a Cross-Border Threat, We Reject Palestinian Displacement
Baghdad – Exclusive
Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi warned that his country is fighting an existential battle against the Iran-backed Houthi militia, describing them as a cross-border terrorist threat that endangers Arab national security and global maritime routes.
Speaking at the Arab Summit held in Baghdad, Al-Alimi reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause remains at the heart of the Arab world, strongly rejecting any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians or alter the demographic composition of the occupied territories.
He called for activating the Arab Ministerial Committee to counter Israeli settlement plans and demographic manipulation. He also urged the Arab League to designate the Houthis as a “foreign terrorist organization,” noting their expanding regional threat.
Al-Alimi praised the support of Saudi Arabia and the UAE for the Yemeni people, commended Egypt’s role in hosting Yemeni refugees, and welcomed the U.S. decision to lift sanctions on Syria, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s role in that effort.
He concluded by reaffirming Yemen’s unwavering commitment to Arab unity and called for collective measures to protect Arab national security and achieve lasting peace.
