Tariq Saleh: Securing the Red Sea and Yemen’s Stability Depends on Ending Iranian Influence
Tariq Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, Vice President of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council and Commander of the National Resistance, affirmed that securing international navigation in the Red Sea and achieving stability in Yemen and the region are directly tied to ending Iranian influence that supports the Houthi militia.

Speaking during a virtual meeting with EU ambassadors to Yemen, Saleh discussed the latest political, humanitarian, and economic developments, and explored ways to strengthen cooperation between the Council and the European Union.

He expressed appreciation for the EU’s steadfast support of Yemen’s legitimate government and welcomed the recent EU statement condemning Houthi violations, describing it as a positive step toward holding the militia accountable.

Saleh called for unified international support to confront the devastating humanitarian and economic consequences caused by the Houthi war, and emphasized the importance of collective efforts to restore state institutions.

EU ambassadors reiterated their firm support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and stressed the need to ensure maritime security and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea — a vital trade route critical to regional and global stability.
