Hamid Al-Ahmar Renews Call for Dismissal of Yemen’s Transport Minister and Airline Head After Loss of Fourth Plane

Aden – Prominent Yemeni MP and tribal leader Hamid Al-Ahmar has once again demanded the dismissal of the Minister of Transport and the Chairman of Yemen Airways, holding them responsible for the continued losses in Yemen’s civil aviation sector.

In a statement posted on X and monitored by "Yeni Yemen", Al-Ahmar recalled his earlier visit to President Rashad Al-Alimi last year, where he warned against allowing Houthis to seize three Yemeni aircraft stationed in Sana’a. He claimed he had asked for the officials to be removed and investigated, but his request was ignored.

"Apparently, these two individuals have protectors within the Presidential Leadership Council," Al-Ahmar added, criticizing the lack of accountability as a fourth plane was just lost in a recent Israeli airstrike.

The destruction of the last functioning Yemeni aircraft at Sana’a Airport by Israeli warplanes sparked renewed anger and public debate, especially amid calls for reform and accountability in Yemen’s aviation sector.
