Security Escalation in Marib: Houthi-Linked Gunmen Block International Road
Tensions flared in Marib on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, as Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Marib, Sheikh Sultan Al-Aradah, returned to the city.

The local security committee issued a strong statement revealing that armed groups loyal to the Houthi militia, led by Abdullah bin Saeed bin Jalal, carried out sabotage operations by blocking the Marib–Hadramout international highway in Al-Wadi district, eastern Marib.

According to the statement, the group attacked military and security checkpoints using medium and heavy weapons, and attempted to establish roadblocks and positions to carry out further acts of violence. Several soldiers were reported injured during clashes as government forces performed their lawful duties.

The committee vowed to pursue and neutralize all those involved in the attack, warning citizens against harboring or aiding any of the outlawed elements.

The statement praised the tribal communities of Marib for standing by the government and rejecting all forms of sabotage and sectarian agendas.
