In a remarkable achievement, Yemeni student Riyam Adel Ahmed Mohammed Mutahar Al-Khalidi secured first place in Ecuador’s national high school exams, scoring an outstanding 99.2% average.

This accomplishment is especially significant given the challenges she faced, most notably the Spanish language barrier, as Spanish is the country’s official language. Riyam and her family moved to Ecuador six years ago, and she initially struggled with the new language and environment.

Despite the hurdles, Riyam managed to consistently maintain the top position in her school throughout her secondary education, earning the respect and admiration of her teachers and the school administration.

She was also actively involved in cultural and social activities, and was entrusted by the school to organize various programs thanks to her leadership and dedication.

Riyam dedicated her success to her parents, acknowledging their unwavering support and encouragement, and also to her family members in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.
