Anwar Gargash Slams Israeli Minister Over "War Funding" Remarks — Later Retracts
Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, strongly condemned comments attributed to Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who allegedly called on Gulf states and several European countries to help fund Israel’s war against Iran. Gargash described the remarks as “moral bankruptcy,” before issuing a correction and confirming that the quotes were inaccurate.

In his initial post on X (formerly Twitter), Gargash wrote:
“Israeli Finance Minister Smotrich has reached a new level of audacity by calling for Gulf (and German, French, British) funding of Israel’s war on Iran. Gulf states condemned the attack and called for a diplomatic solution in the interest of regional stability.”

Later, however, Gargash retracted the statement, writing:
“Reliable sources have clarified, and upon reviewing the interview transcript, it is clear that the remarks attributed to Minister Smotrich were inaccurate and never made. Therefore, I have deleted my earlier tweet.”

He reaffirmed the UAE’s position, stating:
“We continue to advocate for wise, rational, and diplomatic approaches to the region’s challenges. Escalation benefits no one.”
