Suspected Military Equipment Smuggling to Houthis Foiled in Yemen's Al-Mahrah
Yemeni security forces in Al-Mahrah province have thwarted an attempt to smuggle equipment suspected of being used for military purposes to the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
According to the Security Media Center of the Ministry of Interior, police in Shahn district seized a shipment containing electronic devices, metal rods, and wiring cables inside a travel office on the Remeh route, operated by a 38-year-old man identified as “A. M. A.”
Preliminary investigations suggest the seized equipment may have military applications. The items were confiscated and secured at Shahn Police Headquarters, pending referral of the suspects to judicial authorities.
This seizure is part of ongoing efforts by Yemeni authorities to block weapons and military supplies from reaching Houthi militants, who continue to pose a growing threat to regional and national stability.
