The Last Yemeni Jewish Woman Leaves: End of a Century-Old Chapter
Israeli media have confirmed the departure of the last known Jewish woman from Yemen to Israel, marking the symbolic end of a centuries-old Jewish presence in the country.
According to the Arabic-language Israeli outlet i24NEWS, Badra Yosef left Yemen last month following the death of her husband, Yahya Yosef — a respected figure in the Yemeni Jewish community who had steadfastly refused to leave his homeland despite growing difficulties.
Local sources cited by the outlet said the elderly woman had been living in the Arhab district, north of Sana'a. After her husband’s death over a year ago, her health declined significantly, prompting her family to urge her to leave.
Badra reportedly traveled through Ethiopia, where relatives awaited her, before finally settling in Israel.
