Houthi Official Warns: We Won’t Stand Idle if US-Israeli Offensive Expands
A senior Houthi official in Yemen described the ongoing US-Israeli military campaign against Iran as “part of a Zionist-American assault targeting the geography and peoples of the region, as well as all forces opposing Israeli hegemony.” He claimed the ultimate objective is to “reshape the Middle East under absolute Israeli dominance.”
In an interview with Al Jazeera Net, Houthi Political Bureau member Hizam al-Asad labeled the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as “a grave crime by religious, moral, legal, and humanitarian standards.” He argued that the strike fits into a broader strategy aimed at eliminating leaders symbolizing resistance in the region.
Responding to questions about whether the Houthis fear potential targeting of their leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi, al-Asad stated that their movement operates under “a faith-based and resistance-driven vision,” adding that assassination threats would not force them to retreat from their principles.
Regarding the possibility of direct military involvement in support of Iran, he said the decision “depends on assessments by the supreme leadership and relevant authorities monitoring developments on the ground.” However, he did not rule out intervention if the conflict further escalates.
Al-Asad emphasized that Yemen—its people, leadership, and armed forces—is at “the highest level of readiness” to respond to any developments, asserting that the group would take “practical measures” if circumstances demand.
The remarks come amid escalating regional tensions as clashes between Iran, Israel, and the United States intensify, raising concerns about the potential opening of new fronts in the Red Sea and Yemen.
