Escalation of Houthi Military Operations in Taiz
Iran-backed Houthi militias have intensified their military operations in Taiz province, targeting National Army positions in the Air Defense Front northwest of the city with heavy artillery.
According to the Media Center of Taiz Axis, the Houthi shelling caused material damage to the National Army's fortifications. However, no confirmed reports of human casualties have been received so far.
Sources indicated that the shelling coincided with heightened militia movements around the front lines, suggesting plans for further escalation in the coming days.
This escalation comes as Houthi militias continue targeting residential neighborhoods in Taiz city. Local sources reported that the bombardment has resulted in civilian injuries and the destruction of several homes.
The Houthis have reportedly increased their shelling of western areas of the city in an attempt to impose a tighter siege on the National Army and prevent its advance.
The National Army in Taiz issued a statement affirming its full readiness to repel any Houthi attacks, noting that this recent escalation is part of the militia's attempts to solidify gains on the ground after facing pressure on other fronts.
The situation in Taiz remains volatile, with no signs of a political solution and continued military escalation by the Houthis, who aim to establish a new reality on the ground in one of Yemen’s most conflict-stricken provinces.
