Gunmen carried out a targeted assassination on Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulwahab Al-Shaer, a prominent figure in the Islah Party, in Aden on Saturday, in an incident that has shaken political and educational circles.

According to local sources, Al-Shaer was shot while heading to his school in the Kabuta area of Mansoura district to attend the “Nawras 5th Robotics and AI Championship 2026.”

Armed attack and escape

Sources said gunmen in a Hilux vehicle intercepted his car and opened heavy fire near a turn close to the school, killing him instantly before fleeing the scene.

He was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Prominent educational figure

Dr. Al-Shaer was a well-known educator and chairman of Nawras Private Schools, in addition to his political role within the Islah Party.

Ongoing assassination wave

The incident is part of a series of assassinations that have targeted political leaders, clerics, journalists, and activists in Aden in recent years, raising concerns over the resurgence of assassination cells.
