U.S. Reportedly Preparing for Ground Operation in Yemen
N, citing diplomatic sources, has reported that the United States is considering launching a ground operation in Yemen amid escalating tensions in the region.
According to the sources, the operation would likely begin in the southern and eastern parts of Yemen, with U.S. naval support and ground assistance from Saudi Arabia. The primary objective would be to take control of the strategic Hodeidah port on the Red Sea coast.
Analysts cited by CNN suggest that a limited number of U.S. Special Forces may be involved in the operation. Their main role would be to identify targets and coordinate airstrikes.
The development follows President Donald Trump's directive in mid-March ordering intensive strikes on Houthi facilities. U.S. Central Command stated that the campaign is aimed at protecting American interests in the region.
In response, the Houthi group announced it had launched attacks on the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea.
The Houthis continue to carry out missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli sites and commercial vessels in the Red Sea, claiming they are enforcing a maritime blockade in solidarity with Gaza
