Call for International Action Amid Growing Threats to Yemen’s Stability
In a pivotal meeting, Lieutenant General Sultan Al-Arada, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, discussed the latest political, economic, and humanitarian developments surrounding the Yemeni crisis with France’s Ambassador to Yemen, Catherine Corm-Kammoun.
During the meeting, Al-Arada underscored the escalating threats posed by the Houthi militia to international maritime navigation, warning that these hostile activities severely jeopardize global maritime security. He emphasized that the Red Sea’s waterways serve as “vital arteries of the global economy,” urging the international community to take decisive measures to counter these risks.
Al-Arada called for cutting off the financial sources of the Houthi militia and ending regional support that exacerbates the crisis. He also lauded France’s steadfast support for Yemen’s government, expressing appreciation for its consistent stance in backing international efforts to achieve peace in Yemen.
He stressed the importance of recalibrating the political process and exposing parties obstructing peace efforts. Al-Arada urged the international community to take effective steps against those hindering progress toward stability.
Ambassador Corm-Kammoun reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s government and advancing peace initiatives. She condemned any escalation that could derail peace efforts and highlighted the need for a comprehensive political settlement to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
This meeting comes amid heightened regional and international tensions, with growing calls for a robust international response to Yemen’s security and humanitarian challenges.
