UN Delegation Visits Yemen Coast Guard in Aden to Boost Maritime Security and Counter Illicit Activities
A delegation from the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee, led by regional expert Ramadan Musa and accompanied by several team members, visited the Yemen Coast Guard headquarters in the interim capital Aden. The meeting focused on strengthening maritime security in Yemeni territorial waters, combating illegal activities, and supporting efforts to protect international shipping lanes and vital maritime routes.
Assistant Commander for Sector Affairs, Brigadier General Massad Ali Asad, affirmed the Coast Guard’s commitment to performing its duties in line with national laws and international standards. He emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation with regional and international partners to enhance operational and security capabilities.
The UN delegation also conducted a field visit to review the readiness of operational units and inspect ongoing development projects aimed at boosting Yemen’s maritime security capacity.
