In a move described as a turning point in Syria’s modern history, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa met with former U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, following Washington’s decision to lift sanctions imposed on al-Sharaa and senior Syrian officials, including the Minister of Interior.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, sparked a wave of speculation in diplomatic circles, as leaks from Washington suggest the two sides may have reached a landmark geopolitical agreement reshaping the balance of power in Syria and the wider Middle East.

According to insider sources, President al-Sharaa demanded U.S. military support for the Syrian Army and security institutions in exchange for a complete Russian withdrawal from Syria, signaling a possible strategic realignment of Damascus toward Washington.

The reported deal would see Syrian forces enter all areas east of the Euphrates, take control of the borders with Iraq and Turkey, and replace U.S. military bases in northeastern Syria.

Economically, the agreement includes a joint Syrian-American partnership in eastern Homs focused on rare mineral resources, expected to be announced officially soon.

The deal also envisions a partial integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian Army—limited to Syrian fighters only, with foreign elements excluded. This would pave the way for a gradual U.S. withdrawal of support from the SDF, with Damascus replacing it as Washington’s partner in the anti-ISIS coalition across Syria and the Middle East.

Perhaps the most striking revelation is that the Syrian-Israeli agreement has already been finalized, awaiting an Israeli initiative to confirm commitments related to the return to previous lines of engagement before a formal announcement.

Diplomatic observers in Washington have dubbed the meeting “the new deal of the century in the Middle East”, while both Damascus and Washington have remained silent on the circulating leaks. Nonetheless, all indications suggest that a new chapter of alliances is unfolding behind the scenes.
