Al-Alimi Appoints New Leadership for Yemen’s State Security Agency as Unified Intelligence Structure Takes Shape
Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council chairman, Rashad Al-Alimi, issued two republican decrees on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, appointing new leadership for the State Security Agency—nearly two years after creating the institution intended to merge all intelligence bodies from the government, the Southern Transitional Council, the Presidential Guard, and the Giants Brigades.
According to the official Saba News Agency, Major General Mohammed Musleh Hameed Aydhah was appointed as head of the agency, while Brigadier General Faisal Badr Mohammed Bajree was promoted to Major General and named deputy head.
The appointments follow the Council’s October 30, 2025 meeting in Aden, during which it approved the executive plan for merging the various security and intelligence agencies. Council member Aidarous Al-Zubaidi was absent from that meeting.
The Council stressed that the unified structure would enhance intelligence efficiency, improve national security coordination, and strengthen a unified national discourse against terrorism and destabilizing actors.
The State Security Agency was originally established by a presidential decree in January 2024, with its headquarters designated in the interim capital Aden and authority to establish branches across the republic.
