Killed Nearly 10,000 People... MASAM Director: 67 Million Square Meters Cleared of Mines, Houthis Turned Taiz into a Death Field
Engineer Osama Al-Qusaybi, Director General of the Saudi-backed "Masam" Mine Clearance Project, revealed that since 2018, the project has cleared over 67 million square meters of land across Yemen.
Speaking to the press, Al-Qusaybi said that Taiz Province remains the most heavily affected by mines planted indiscriminately by the Houthi militia, often without maps and using advanced booby-trapping techniques.
He noted that many civilian areas turned into "death traps" after Houthi withdrawals, including roads, farms, and villages—causing casualties, displacement, and disruption of daily life.
Al-Qusaybi emphasized that Masam’s efforts extend beyond mine clearance to include community awareness programs and cooperation with local and international partners to restore safety in liberated regions.
"What is happening in Yemen? What caused the war? And who ignited it?
