Palestinian Woman Dies of Starvation in Gaza After Dropping to 25 kg
Rahil Rasras becomes latest victim of Gaza famine; 20 dead in 48 hours
Khan Younis, Gaza – Rahil Mohammad Rasras, a 32-year-old Palestinian woman with special needs, passed away on Monday evening at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, after a painful struggle with severe malnutrition amid Israel’s ongoing siege and blockade of humanitarian aid.
According to medical sources cited by Anadolu Agency, Rahil once weighed around 50 kilograms. But due to severe famine, her health deteriorated rapidly, reducing her weight to a mere 25 kilograms. Her emaciated body could no longer resist the slow death of starvation.
Heartbreaking footage of Rahil’s deteriorating condition circulated on social media, showing her gaunt face and protruding bones—an image emblematic of Gaza’s suffering.

With her death, the number of famine-related fatalities in Gaza rose to 20 in the past 48 hours alone. The Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that 86 people, including 76 children, have died from starvation since the full blockade began on October 7, 2023.

Gaza’s Humanitarian Crisis Worsens
Gaza is enduring one of the most catastrophic humanitarian crises in its history. The famine is accompanied by a brutal military campaign supported by the U.S., including relentless bombing, systematic starvation, destruction of infrastructure, and mass displacement.
Only 16 of Gaza’s 38 hospitals are still partially functioning, amid a severe shortage of medicines, medical equipment, and food supplies. Since March, Israel has almost entirely shut down all border crossings, intensifying the disaster.

Despite repeated international appeals and rulings from the International Court of Justice, Israel continues its military operations. The ongoing war has resulted in nearly 200,000 Palestinians killed or injured, over 11,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a silent famine devastating the civilian population.
