Heavy Clashes Erupt in Al-Abr as STC Expansion Opens a New Front in Hadramout
Fierce clashes broke out early Wednesday in the Al-Abr district of Hadramout between forces of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and units of the 23rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade. Field sources reported the use of heavy and medium weaponry, including artillery, heavy machine guns, and RPGs.

Eyewitnesses said the fighting erupted near the western entrance of the district, triggering widespread panic among residents, with many families fleeing their homes fearing the conflict could expand. Explosions and bursts of gunfire continued intermittently at the time of reporting.

The escalation comes amid unprecedented tensions between rival factions supported by the Arab Coalition. The 23rd Brigade is viewed as part of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, while the STC has been expanding its control across Wadi Hadramout after entering Seiyun and key military sites early on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Local residents expressed deep concern about a looming humanitarian crisis as essential services collapse and displacement increases. Human rights advocates called for urgent intervention by the Arab Coalition and international community to prevent the situation from spiraling into a broader conflict that could destabilize the entire region.
