Basure from Istanbul: Houthi coup deepened Yemen’s humanitarian crisis
Mohsen Basra, speaking at the Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly held in Istanbul, highlighted the severe impact of the Iran-backed Houthi coup on Yemen.
Basra explained that the coup has led to the destruction of infrastructure, paralysis of state institutions, and suspension of salaries for public employees. He added that targeting oil export ports and national resources has further worsened living conditions across the country.
He also praised the ongoing support provided by Saudi Arabia, particularly in humanitarian and development sectors, noting its role in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni population.
Basra called on the international community to reinforce commitment to international humanitarian law, combat corruption, and ensure accountability, urging decisive measures to address threats to regional security and stability.
