he Yemeni Ministry of Public Health and Population has announced the successful completion of a cholera vaccination campaign, during which 3,312,987 people were vaccinated between December 7 and 12, achieving an 86.3% success rate.
Dr. Ali Al-Walidi, Deputy Minister of Health, highlighted that the campaign faced significant challenges in the field, including difficulties in reaching affected areas due to security conditions and damaged infrastructure. Despite these obstacles, the efforts of vaccination teams and awareness campaigns resulted in this high achievement rate.
Ongoing Cholera Outbreak
Amid deteriorating health conditions in Yemen, the World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a new cholera outbreak this year. As of November 24, 2024, a total of 245,776 cholera cases have been recorded in the country, along with 861 deaths linked to the disease.
In response, the Yemeni Ministry of Health is intensifying its efforts to curb the spread of cholera through comprehensive vaccination programs and expanding health awareness campaigns. The ministry emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation with international organizations to ensure healthcare services reach all areas.
