sraeli Airstrikes on Sana’a and Hodeidah: 14 Casualties Reported Amid Escalating Regional Tensions
Israeli warplanes launched intense airstrikes this evening, targeting Yemen's capital, Sana’a, and the port city of Hodeidah. The attacks left 14 people dead or injured, according to initial reports from the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah channel.
Local sources reported that the strikes hit Sana’a International Airport, Al-Dailami Air Base, the Hizziz power station in Sana’a, and oil facilities in Hodeidah. Videos circulating on social media captured the moments of the attack on Sana’a Airport.
Israel’s Channel 13 claimed responsibility for the strikes, describing them as part of a broader campaign against the Houthis. An Israeli military source, speaking to the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, confirmed that the strikes included the destruction of the control tower at Sana’a Airport, rendering its operations completely inoperative.
Israeli Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated that the strikes targeted "terrorist infrastructure" belonging to the Houthis, including power facilities and ports allegedly used for smuggling Iranian weapons. He emphasized that Israel would continue its operations against any threats to its security.
On the other side, the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah channel condemned the airstrikes as "Israeli aggression" aimed at vital civilian infrastructure, including power plants and oil facilities. The channel also reported ongoing efforts to locate three missing individuals.
Houthi spokesperson Mohammed Abdul-Salam denounced the escalation, asserting Yemen's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi warned that Israeli and American escalation would fail to achieve their objectives, threatening a larger retaliation against what he described as "Zionist aggression."
These developments come amid rising regional tensions, with warnings of severe repercussions for security and stability in the region.
