Islah Party Condemns Al-Zubaidi's Recent Comments on Terrorism
The Islah Party, one of Yemen's largest political parties, has condemned the recent statements made by Aidros Al-Zubaidi, president of the Southern Transitional Council, calling them unjustified.
Adnan Al-Adini, the party's spokesperson and deputy head of the media department, stated that Al-Zubaidi's use of the term "terrorism" in his remarks was an unusual call, especially since several Islah leaders and supporters lost their lives due to terrorism in the city of Aden.
Al-Adini emphasized that these remarks reveal a case of political dissonance. He further noted that the country is going through a sensitive phase, and all parties should exercise greater wisdom in facing the current challenges.
The Islah Party official also highlighted that the party is making sincere and selfless efforts and urged for self-reflection before making accusations.
On the other hand, Al-Zubaidi attacked the Islah Party leaders in an interview with "Sky News Arabia," accusing them of ties to terrorism, despite their presence in the internationally recognized government and the Presidential Leadership Council.
Al-Zubaidi clarified that the members of the Council agree on fighting the Houthis, but they are also entrenched behind divergent political projects, leading to contradictions in their positions.
He also hinted at promises to divide Yemen back to its pre-1990 unity state, conditional upon the elimination of the Houthis in Sana'a. This raises concerns regarding the future of national unity in the country.
