U.S. Navy Super Hornet Lost in Red Sea During Evasive Maneuver
A U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter jet fell into the Red Sea on April 28, 2025, during a sharp maneuver by the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier to evade incoming fire from Yemen's Houthi rebels. The jet, valued at approximately $60 million, was being towed in the carrier's hangar bay when it went overboard. One sailor sustained minor injuries. The incident is under investigation.
