INTERPOL Delegation Arrives in Aden to Strengthen Security Cooperation in Yemen
A high-level delegation from the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) arrived in the interim capital Aden today on an official visit aimed at enhancing security cooperation and assessing the current field situation in several key sectors.
The delegation includes Mr. Saad Mohammed Hussein Al-Jubouri, Criminal Investigations Officer; Thilery Fernandez, Security Assessment Officer; and Ibrahim Mohammed Saeed Farghali, a former police officer and current INTERPOL official.
Upon arrival at Aden International Airport, the delegation was welcomed by Major General Mohammed Nasser Al-Shabaan, Head of Civil Defense, and several officials from the Ministry of Interior and INTERPOL Yemen.
The visit aims to support ongoing international efforts to secure the Red Sea and broader maritime areas through the Maritime Security Programme—jointly managed by INTERPOL, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, and the International Maritime Organization. The mission includes meetings with Interior Ministry leadership and field visits to assess security threats and needs.
A key component of the visit is a 4-day training course for port security personnel and maritime authorities, focusing on improving operational capacity against organized crime, smuggling, and terrorism.
Major General Al-Shabaan emphasized the significance of the visit in boosting Yemen’s security capabilities, thanking INTERPOL and supporting bodies for their role in this crucial time. The delegation affirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration with Yemeni authorities, with the backing of the European Union.
