Houthi Militias Announce Resumption of Flights at Sana’a Airport After Israeli Airstrikes
The Houthi militias announced on Wednesday the resumption of flights at Sana’a International Airport, following a week of closure due to Israeli airstrikes that caused significant damage to the airport and destroyed several civilian aircraft. The airstrikes were in response to a missile launched by the Houthis targeting Ben Gurion Airport.
Khaled Al-Shaif, the Houthi-appointed manager of the airport, stated that the "first UN flight is scheduled to arrive today, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, operated by the World Food Programme (WFP)."
On Tuesday, the Houthis confirmed that the airport is now fully operational, following extensive repairs to the runway and other affected facilities. They called on local and regional airlines to resume flights after finalizing the necessary coordination.
This development comes amid rising regional military tensions and ongoing international diplomatic efforts to ensure the continued flow of humanitarian aid through Sana’a Airport.
