Sana’a – Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi is set to make an official visit to Russia on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, according to Russian news agency Sputnik. The visit comes at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the Yemeni Presidential Office, Al-Alimi will hold high-level discussions with President Putin in Moscow, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations, regional developments, and international cooperation.

Earlier this month, Al-Alimi met with Evgeny Kudrov, the acting Russian ambassador to Yemen, to coordinate the visit and discuss mutual concerns, including regional security and economic cooperation.

This visit marks a significant step in Yemen’s foreign policy, particularly in the context of shifting international alliances and efforts to draw greater diplomatic support for Yemen’s reconstruction and stability.

Al-Alimi’s trip follows his recent participation in the Arab League Summit in Baghdad, where he called for the establishment of an Arab fund to support Yemen’s recovery.
