Israel Kills Iran’s New Chief of Staff in Retaliation as Tehran Launches Missiles on Tel Aviv
The Israeli army announced on Tuesday that it had intercepted an Iranian missile attack targeting various parts of the country, including central and northern Israel. In a significant escalation, Israel confirmed it had assassinated Ali Shadmani, Iran’s newly appointed Chief of Staff for war operations.
According to Israeli media, between 20 and 30 Iranian missiles were launched, one of which struck directly a residential building in Herzliya, north of Tel Aviv. At least five people were injured, while ten others were wounded while rushing to shelters.
Air raid sirens sounded across Haifa, Be’er Sheva, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem. The Israeli fire department deployed 20 teams to deal with multiple incidents resulting from the strikes.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared that a new wave of missile attacks had begun, claiming it was targeting Israel’s strategic and intelligence centers. General Kiomars Heidari, commander of Iran’s ground forces, stated that Iran used advanced drones and high-impact weapons and that attacks would intensify in the coming hours.
Separately, Iranian police announced the arrest of a Mossad agent in Karaj, west of Tehran, accused of producing and testing explosive materials.
