Israeli Ambassador in Trouble: Dubai Bar Incident Sparks Emirati Outrage
Yossi Shelley, Israel’s ambassador to the UAE, has found himself at the center of a diplomatic controversy after being seen behaving inappropriately at a bar in Dubai.
According to multiple sources, Shelley was accompanied by Israeli men and women at the venue, an incident monitored by Emirati security and reported to both local and Israeli authorities.
Channel 12 reported that the UAE, via unofficial channels, expressed strong dissatisfaction, calling the ambassador's conduct "an insult to Emirati dignity" and unbefitting of someone in his position.
Although Shelley downplayed the incident, claiming it was a private affair unrelated to his official role, it adds to a list of past controversies—including his comments following the October 7 attack and misconduct allegations during his tenure in Brazil.
Whether Tel Aviv will yield to Emirati pressure and replace him remains uncertain.
