Al-Alimi: Withdrawal of Forces Acting Outside the Coalition Is a Sovereign Demand to Protect the State
Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi stated that demanding the withdrawal of forces operating outside the framework of the Arab Coalition is a “legitimate sovereign request” aimed at safeguarding the state and preserving unified military and security decision-making.
During a meeting with ambassadors sponsoring Yemen’s political process, Al-Alimi warned that unilateral military movements in eastern provinces undermine state authority and revive the logic of parallel powers rejected by the international community.
He highlighted government efforts to de-escalate tensions through dialogue mechanisms and a phased redeployment plan for “Dera’ Al-Watan” forces, noting that these initiatives were deliberately obstructed.
Al-Alimi stressed that counterterrorism cannot be used as a political pretext for unauthorized military actions and reaffirmed that the southern issue can only be resolved through a comprehensive political process reflecting the free will of the people.
"What is happening in Yemen? What caused the war? And who ignited it?
