Severe Weather Alert in Yemen: Thunderstorms, Hail, and Dangerous Seas Expected
The Yemeni National Meteorological and Early Warning Center issued an urgent weather alert this evening, warning of widespread atmospheric instability across most parts of the country. Thunderstorms of varying intensity are expected in the coming hours, with a likelihood of hail in some areas.

According to the center’s daily bulletin, the most affected regions will be the western and central highlands, including Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Amran, western Sana’a, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz, Al Dhale'e, and Al Bayda, in addition to parts of the highlands in Lahj, Abyan, and Shabwah.

Scattered rains accompanied by occasional thunder are also possible in Saada, Al Jawf, Marib, Al Hudaydah, Hadhramaut, Al Mahrah, and the Tihama plains.

In a parallel development, the center warned of strong to very strong winds expected to hit the Socotra Archipelago, with potential extensions to the Gulf of Aden and the eastern and southern coasts, causing rough seas and high waves.

The public is urged to exercise caution, avoid flood channels, and be wary of rock and mudslides—especially along mountain roads. Fishermen, sailors, and marine crews are advised to avoid venturing into the sea in affected areas for their safety.
