Houthi Militias Plant Mines Around Sana'a to Hinder Liberation Efforts
Informed sources reported that Houthi militias have planted various types of mines in several areas around the capital, Sana'a.
The sources confirmed that the Houthis planted mines in areas such as Bani Matar, Asir, and Nehm, as well as other locations on the outskirts of the capital, in an attempt to hinder any military operations aimed at liberating Sana'a. This move comes amid the collapse of the Iranian axis in the region and growing concerns among the Houthi militias about facing a fate similar to the crumbling Syrian regime.
Human rights defenders and activists condemned this action, considering it a reflection of the fear and anxiety that the Houthi group has over a potential defeat. They emphasized that the mines would not prevent the liberation of the capital but would lead to more civilian casualties in those areas. They also pointed out the contradiction in the Houthi stance, which claims readiness to counter any military operation aimed at liberating the seized capital of Sana'a. They asked, "If the Houthis are confident in their military strength on the front lines, why are they planting mines at the capital's entrances and other cities?" They stressed that these mines pose a significant threat to civilians and reveal the Houthi militias' willingness to sacrifice innocent lives for political purposes.
