Senior Houthi Leader Killed in Dynamite Explosion During Secret Tunnel Digging in Sana'a
A senior Houthi militant, posing as a brigadier general, and another fighter were killed in a dynamite explosion during a secret tunnel excavation in southern Sana'a, Yemen.
Local sources confirmed that the two militants, Brigadier General Mohammed Nasser Ali Al-Zughafi and Assistant Khaled Shua'i Ali Solan, died while attempting to break rocks with dynamite in the Artil area. The group held their funerals on Thursday but refrained from disclosing the exact time and location of their deaths.
The Houthi militia, designated as a terrorist organization by several countries, including the United States, often conceals the circumstances surrounding the deaths of its field commanders to obscure the increasing losses it suffers.
Earlier reports revealed that the Houthis have recently intensified their efforts to dig tunnels and trenches in areas under their control, particularly in Sana'a, Hodeidah, Taiz, and Sa'dah, the stronghold of the militia's leader, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi.
