Yemeni Army Repels Houthi Attack West of Taiz: 23 Dead and Injured
The Taiz Military Command, affiliated with the Yemeni army, announced on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, that eight members of the Houthi group, internationally designated as a terrorist organization, were killed and 15 others injured during a failed attack on army positions in the Air Defense Front, northwest of Taiz city.
In a statement, the command confirmed that the Iranian-backed group’s assault was repelled after fierce clashes lasting over two hours, involving the use of heavy and medium weaponry.
Local sources reported that ambulances belonging to the Houthi group were seen transporting the wounded to Al-Rifai Hospital, a private facility near the Houthi-controlled area of Al-Hawban.
The Yemeni army stated that it had thwarted three infiltration attempts and attacks on its positions in the province over the past ten days. It also highlighted that the Houthi group had targeted residential neighborhoods and villages in western Taiz with artillery and drone strikes.
