Mossad's Most Sensitive Operation in Tehran: The Assassination of Ismail Haniyeh
Israel's Channel 12 revealed new details on Saturday about the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's Political Bureau, in the Iranian capital, Tehran. The operation was described as one of the "most dangerous and sensitive" in Mossad's history.

According to the report, the assassination took place on July 31, 2024, following extensive surveillance of Haniyeh's movements. Mossad noted his repeated visits to the same location and his stay in the same room in Tehran. A precision bomb was planted in his room, timed shortly before the inauguration of Iran's new president, Masoud Bezeshkian.

The report added that the operation was nearly canceled at the last moment due to a malfunction in the room's air conditioning system. However, Iranian technicians managed to repair it quickly, allowing the mission to proceed. The bomb was reportedly designed to target Haniyeh specifically, avoiding harm to others.

Channel 12 highlighted that Haniyeh was considered one of the masterminds behind a major planned attack on Israel, making him a top-priority target for Mossad.
