New Escalation: STC Forces Seize Gate of Ma’ashiq Presidential Palace in Aden
Forces of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) seized one of the upper gates of the Ma’ashiq Presidential Palace in Yemen’s temporary capital, Aden, on Tuesday. The gate was previously controlled by the presidential guard battalion.

According to local sources, the presidential guard forces withdrew inside the palace grounds to avoid armed clashes with the advancing STC forces. This move is seen as part of the STC’s efforts to gain full control over the palace’s entrances, as they already control two other gates.

Observers link this development to a new wave of political escalation by the STC, aiming to pressure the Presidential Leadership Council to approve political and military appointments favoring STC supporters. Last week, STC leader and Presidential Leadership Council member Aidarous Al-Zubaidi walked out of a council meeting in Riyadh, protesting the rejection of these appointments.
