British Newspaper The Telegraph: Israel Conducts Airstrikes on Sana’a Power Plant, Targets Houthi Leaders
The British newspaper The Telegraph reported that Israel carried out airstrikes on the Hizaiz Power Plant near Yemen’s capital Sana’a, targeting senior leaders of the Houthi militia, marking the latest escalation between the two sides.

According to the newspaper, the Israeli military stated that the attack was a response to repeated Houthi attacks on Israel using ballistic missiles and drones since October 2023, in solidarity with Hamas. Israel described the Houthis as “a terrorist system directed and funded by Iran to harm Israel and its allies,” accusing the group of exploiting maritime areas to threaten global shipping and trade.

The Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah channel reported large explosions at the power plant, causing electricity outages and a fire, but did not directly blame Israel. Local reports cited by The Telegraph indicated that several Houthi leaders were present in the control room during the strike, and the attack is believed to have been carried out by the Israeli navy.

The Telegraph added that since July, Israel has carried out several wide-scale strikes on Houthi positions, including Hodeidah port and Sana’a International Airport. The newspaper noted that Houthis began attacking ships in the Red Sea and recently sank the “Eternity Sea” cargo vessel, resulting in four deaths, 12 captives, and one crew member sustaining severe injuries leading to leg amputation.

The newspaper also emphasized that Israel has long accused Iran of supplying the Houthis with funding and ballistic missiles. Last month, a large Iranian arms shipment bound for the Houthis was intercepted by the internationally recognized Yemeni government, described by U.S. sources as one of the largest ever seized.
