Major Mismanagement of 91 Million Riyals in Yemen's Consulate in Jeddah
The Central Auditing and Accounting Authority has revealed significant violations and irregularities related to revenue collection and consular fees at Yemen's consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. According to the report published by the government’s Saba News Agency on Sunday, these revenues were spent unlawfully.
The report mentions that one of the violations included the Higher Passport Committee's decision to increase the fees for issuing ordinary passports and allocate part of these fees for covering expenses of committees from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Immigration and Passports Department, as well as additional income for the General Consulate in Jeddah, all without any legal justification.
The report also revealed the total amount spent illegally, which reached 91 million 236 thousand Saudi Riyals.
Additionally, the report highlighted the consulate's failure to transfer the amounts collected from ordinary passport fees and fines between 2018 and 2022, with the total untransferred amount reaching 156 million 656 thousand Riyals. The only amount transferred as general revenue during the last four years was 12 million 750 thousand Riyals.
According to the report, 143 million 90 thousand Riyals were diverted to corrupt individuals and not deposited in the state's treasury, leading to additional illegal fees being imposed on citizens.
