Yemeni Government Welcomes U.S. Decision to Classify Houthi Group as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and Calls for International Action
The Yemeni government has welcomed the United States' decision to classify the Houthi group as a "Foreign Terrorist Organization." Yemen's Information Minister, Muammar al-Eryani, stated that this decision marks an important step in addressing the ongoing threat posed by the Houthi militia to regional and international security. He emphasized that the designation reflects global recognition of the Houthi group's terrorism, including their repeated attacks on international shipping, targeting of civilians and infrastructure, and their role in destabilizing the region with direct support from Iran.

Minister al-Eryani called on the international community, including the United Kingdom and the European Union, to take similar steps by classifying the Houthi group as a "Global Terrorist Organization" and intensifying efforts to cut off their financial, military, and media resources. He stressed that these actions are essential to ensuring regional and global stability.

The minister also warned the Yemeni people against collaborating with the Houthi militia, urging them not to become tools for prolonging the conflict and furthering the group's destructive goals. He made it clear that anyone engaging with the Houthi group, whether materially or morally, will be held legally accountable. Al-Eryani renewed his call for all Yemenis to unite behind the Presidential Leadership Council, led by President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, and work together to end the Houthi control over Yemen's resources and contribute to rebuilding a secure and stable future for the country.
