Mu'awda: The Battle in Yemen is an Existential Struggle Against the Houthi Militias
The head of the parliamentary bloc of the General People's Congress Party, Sheikh Abdulwahab Mu'awda, emphasized that the ongoing battle in Yemen is not merely a political dispute, but rather an existential struggle between the state and the Houthi militias. He made these remarks during a seminar organized by the Yemeni-European Forum in the Belgian capital, Brussels, which was attended by leaders of Yemeni political parties and political experts to discuss the future of political life in Yemen amid the rising influence of armed groups.

Mu'awda stressed that superficial solutions and fragile compromises would only enable the Houthis to continue with their destructive agenda. "The wrong bets are over, and today we face an existential challenge that requires unity and a firm stance to confront this dangerous project," he said

The seminar was attended by leaders of the General People's Congress, the Yemeni Islah Party, the Yemeni Socialist Party, the Nasserist Union Organization, and the National Resistance Council, where they discussed ways to achieve national unity in the face of security and political challenges posed by the Houthi group and other armed factions.

Mu'awda highlighted that the Houthi militias are following a systematic strategy to undermine political work in Yemen by portraying it as a crime and eliminating political pluralism in favor of establishing a dictatorial system based on the concept of the "guardianship of the jurist." He added that this project poses a direct threat to Yemen's sovereignty and national identity.

Mu'awda further explained that the Houthis do not acknowledge political partnership and seek to impose their reality through force, making any discussion of dialogue with them unrealistic. He emphasized that this stage requires decisive national positions, free from partisan calculations that may harm the country's interests.

Mu'awda concluded his remarks with a firm message: "Either we unite and resist, or we bury ourselves alive under the rubble of a collapsing homeland before our eyes.
