Houthi Militias Forced Burial of UN Employee Ahmed Baalawi in Sana'a
The family of UN employee Ahmed Baalawi conducted his burial in Sana'a on Wednesday, after he died under torture in Houthi prisons a day earlier.

Sources from the World Food Program revealed that the Houthi militias forced Baalawi's family to bury him after several days of his detention in Sa'da. Baalawi, a staff member of the World Food Program, was arrested by the Houthis and died in their custody.

According to the sources, the funeral prayer took place after the Dhuhr prayer at the "Bilal Mosque" in Sana'a, and his body was laid to rest in the "Siyah Cemetery." Condolences were received at the "Amazing East Hall" in Sana'a.

The sources added that there was no investigation into the circumstances of Baalawi’s death, and no actions were taken by the World Food Program regarding the incident.

On Tuesday, following Baalawi's death, the World Food Program held a meeting with its employees. However, the meeting did not address any new decisions regarding the office’s operations or the safety of its staff

Sources mentioned that the headquarters instructed the Yemen office to continue with its operations, but there was no mention of the Houthis during the meeting, nor was any firm stance taken in response to Baalawi’s death.

The incident comes after Baalawi, a member of the World Food Program’s IT operations, died in a Houthi detention center in Sa'da, northern Yemen. Baalawi was one of seven staff members arrested by the Houthis in January while performing their duties in Sa'da.

This incident occurred two weeks after the World Food Program resumed its activities in Sana'a, which is under Houthi control, despite the militia’s abductions of several staff members.
