Houthi Leadership’s Participation in Hassan Nasrallah's Funeral Sparks Outrage Among Yemenis
The footage of Houthi leaders participating in the funeral of Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has sparked widespread anger and frustration among Yemenis.
In the images, the Houthi leaders appear to be trying to present themselves as submissive and fully loyal to Hezbollah and Iran, a stance that many critics describe as "humiliating." The portrayal has stirred intense backlash, with many seeing it as a clear demonstration of their allegiance to foreign powers at the expense of Yemen's sovereignty.
A prominent Yemen figure, Asil al-Saqladi, the media director of the Southern Giants Brigades, commented on the videos saying, "The disgraceful scenes of Houthi leaders in Beirut revealed what was previously hidden behind the scenes but has now become clear to everyone. The state of humiliation and defeat the Houthi leadership is enduring is no longer a secret; it is a bitter reality that cannot be denied."
He continued, "We hope these images have opened the eyes of those who were blind to the truth, including Houthi supporters and those deceived into joining their ranks. It is now clear that this group is nothing but a pliable tool in the hands of Iran and its regional arm, Hezbollah, at the expense of the blood and lives of the Yemeni people, who are suffering due to their policies and wars."
On social media, Yemenis expressed their deep dissatisfaction with the images, emphasizing that they serve as "living testimony" to the absolute subservience of the Houthis to Iran and Hezbollah. They noted that this loyalty comes at the cost of the Yemeni people's ongoing suffering due to the war, which has led to an unprecedented deterioration in both the humanitarian and economic situations.
This incident shines a light once again on the close relationship between the Houthis and Hezbollah and how Yemen is being used as a battleground to fulfill Iran's regional agenda. Meanwhile, the Yemeni people continue to bear the brunt of this external support, which threatens their future and security.
