Saudi Arabia Cancels Recognition of Houthi Medical Licenses Over Educational Corruption
According to media sources, Saudi Arabia has revoked its recognition of professional licenses issued by the medical council of the Houthi militias in Sana'a, due to the group’s interference with higher education.
The sources reported that Saudi Arabia’s decision to cancel recognition of the Houthi-issued licenses came in response to widespread corruption in the country's educational and academic sectors, particularly within universities. The move follows a similar decision by Kuwait, which recently withdrew its recognition of degrees from Sana'a University and prohibited Kuwaiti students from enrolling in any of its programs. Kuwait's decision was triggered by the Houthi militias' manipulation of the education system and their conversion of the university into a military recruitment and training ground.
The Kuwaiti decision was published in the official gazette shortly after Sana'a University awarded a master’s degree to "Mahdi al-Mashat," the head of the Houthi Political Council, and months after granting a similar degree to the group's spokesperson, "Yahya Saree."
