Iran Denies Ties to Houthis, Urges End to U.S. Military Strikes on Yemen
Iran has denied any connection to the Houthi militia and called for an immediate halt to the United States' ongoing military operations in Yemen.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani stated, “We reject claims that resistance groups in the region act as Iran’s proxies.” He condemned the American airstrikes targeting Yemen's infrastructure, describing them as “deeply regrettable,” especially given the repeated civilian casualties.

Kanaani argued that the strikes violate international law and the UN Charter, accusing the U.S. of using Yemen as a distraction from what he called “Israeli crimes” in Gaza, the West Bank, and neighboring countries.

He added that the solution lies in ending the violence in Gaza and holding “the Zionist regime” accountable for fueling regional instability.

These remarks come amid reports that Iran may be distancing itself from its proxy forces in Yemen to avoid a direct confrontation with the United States.
