Yemeni Minister Slams Houthi Airport Announcement as “Propaganda Stunt”
Yemen’s Minister of Information, Moammar Al-Eryani, condemned the Iran-backed Houthi militia’s announcement of the “reopening” of Sana’a International Airport, describing it as a “propaganda stunt” that masks the reality of devastation caused by the group.

In a statement, Al-Eryani emphasized that the airport’s infrastructure— including terminals, administrative offices, navigation equipment, and civilian aircraft — had been completely destroyed, and cannot simply be “requalified” by laying a primitive layer of asphalt or opening a makeshift hall resembling a vegetable market.

The minister warned that the Houthis are attempting to resume operations without the necessary safety measures in place, endangering both civilians and Yemen’s only remaining civil aircraft. He noted that any damage to the aircraft’s engines, which cost between $10 to $15 million each, would be catastrophic.

Al-Eryani stressed that this so-called rehabilitation is nothing more than a media charade to cover up the militia’s failure, adding that the group is whitewashing disaster instead of addressing it.
