Yemeni President Oversees Swearing-In of Five New Supreme Court Judges
On Sunday, five newly appointed judges of Yemen’s Supreme Court were sworn in before President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, in a ceremony attended by Supreme Judicial Council President Judge Mohsen Yahya Taleb.
The swearing-in followed Presidential Decree No. 327 of 2024, and included:
Judge Mohammed Faraj Salem Sebti
Judge Ahmed Said Khamis bin Arwah
Judge Fadhl Abdullah Ali Moqbel
Judge Jalal Ubaid Mohammed Al-Marfadi
Judge Mohammed Qaid Salem Mohammed Hamidan
Following the ceremony, President Al-Alimi congratulated the judges and emphasized their vital role in upholding justice, enforcing the rule of law, and protecting social harmony—especially amid the ongoing war ignited by the Houthi militias with backing from the Iranian regime.
The president reiterated the Council’s commitment to the separation of powers and judicial independence, noting ongoing efforts to improve the conditions of judiciary staff and implement court rulings effectively.
He also briefed the judiciary on the current national challenges, particularly the economic and humanitarian impacts of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil infrastructure and international maritime routes.
President Al-Alimi concluded by commending the steadfast support from the Saudi-led Coalition—particularly Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates—for aiding the legitimate government and thwarting plans by the Houthi militia and affiliated terrorist groups to plunge the country into chaos.
"What is happening in Yemen? What caused the war? And who ignited it?
