Security Council Meeting in Aden: New Measures Against Houthi and Terror Cells

Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, chaired a high-level meeting of the Supreme Security Committee in the interim capital, Aden, on Tuesday. The session was attended by Central Bank Governor Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Maabqi, along with senior military, security, and local officials.

The meeting brought together Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Mohsen Al-Daari, Interior Minister Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Haidan, and governors of Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Al-Dhalea, and Taiz, in addition to top intelligence and counter-terrorism officials.

Focus on Security and Economic Stability

The committee discussed the latest developments in the liberated areas, with a strong focus on enhancing security in Aden, combating terrorism and organized crime, and stabilizing the national currency.

The Central Bank Governor delivered a comprehensive briefing on exchange rate fluctuations and the necessary steps to deter market manipulators and support monetary policy.

Foiling Terror Plots and Dismantling Cells

Reports presented by the security chiefs highlighted significant progress in dismantling terrorist cells linked to Houthi militias and thwarting sabotage attempts, particularly in Aden, Taiz, Lahj, Al-Dhalea, and Abyan.

President Al-Alimi praised the security forces for their efforts and called for tighter coordination to detect dormant cells, protect institutions, and uphold law and order across the liberated provinces.

Military Readiness and Battlefield Assessment

The meeting also reviewed the military situation across frontlines and assessed combat readiness in light of the Council’s decision to unify military efforts and enhance coordination among various security and intelligence entities.
