“Masam” Project Clears Over 1,300 Mines and Unexploded Ordnances in Yemen Within a Week
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s “Masam” project, dedicated to clearing Yemen of landmines and remnants of war, announced that its field teams successfully removed 1,319 mines and unexploded ordnances planted by the Houthi militias across several Yemeni provinces within just one week.
According to an official statement from Masam’s media office, the engineering teams dismantled 1,227 unexploded ordnances, 65 anti-tank mines, 26 anti-personnel mines, and one improvised explosive device (IED). The clearance operations covered a total area of 252,556 square meters of contaminated land.
The statement added that as of October 3, 2025, the total cleared area since the project’s launch has reached 71,164,694 square meters.
Since its inception in June 2018, Masam teams have cleared 517,818 landmines, unexploded ordnances, and IEDs, including:

Masam’s General Director, Osama Al-Qusaibi, emphasized that field efforts continue at a high pace to secure mine-affected areas and ensure civilian safety, as part of the project’s humanitarian mission to create a safe environment across Yemen.
